| Gomez finishes with a whimper: Indians SP Jeanmar Gomez did not have a strong finish to the season on Tuesday night in Detroit. Gomez was rocked by the Tigers as he allowed a two-run homer to Delmon Young and a solo shot to Wilson Betemit among eight earned runs allowed. Gomez took the loss to finish the season at 5-3 as he gave up eight runs on 10 hits and two walks over 4 2/3 innings. Gomez struck out five and his ERA finishes at 4.47 on the year. | The 23-year-old Gomez had actually won five straight starts coming into his finale on Tuesday. Unfortunately, he finished with a dud, instead of a bang. The Indians certainly will not hold that against him as he was very solid down the stretch for the Tribe. Gomez is definitely going to be in the rotation conversation heading into next season, and Fantasy owners should have taken notice over his final six starts of this year. Gomez is quite young yet and could have plenty of sleeper appeal heading into 2012. (Updated 09/27/2011). |
