Daniel Webb gets rocked in loss to Astros
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

White Sox reliever Daniel Webb was hit hard and took the loss Sunday afternoon at home against the Astros, dropping to 5-3 on the year.

Unable to maintain a 7-7 tie, Webb permitted a run-scoring double to Matt Dominguez, a two-run double to L.J. Hoes and a run-scoring single to Marwin Gonzalez in the seventh inning. He was charged with four runs on four hits and one walk while striking out one in 1 1/3 innings of relief. He owns a 3.74 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP over 43 1/3 innings of relief.

Daniel Webb working on delivery
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

White Sox reliever Daniel Webb is working with bullpen coach Bobby Thigpen on his delivery, reports MLB.com.  "It's throwing a pitch and knowing what I did on a bad pitch," Webb said. "Feeling it, that I have to fix that right away and not let it keep going."

Webb is 4-2 with a 3.12 ERA in 40 1/3 innings.

Daniel Webb takes loss on walkoff wild pitch Wednesday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

White Sox pitcher Daniel Webb was stuck with a loss after allowing the winning run to cross the plate in the bottom of the 12th inning on a wild pitch in his team's 5-4 defeat against the Orioles.

Webb (4-2) walked the first batter he faced, who advanced to third base on a single by the following batter. The reliever then uncorked a wild pitch to end the lengthy game that endured an extra-innings weather delay. Webb owns a 3.06 ERA and 27:26 K:BB ratio in 35 1/3 innings.

Where else do the White Sox turn for saves?
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

We've said it before, but with Ronald Belisario blowing two of his five save opportunities -- and nearly two more -- in his first week and a half on the job, the White Sox have to turn to Daniel Webb pretty soon here, right?

Not that trying out Belisario in the role (which is still technically his, by the way) was a bad call. He's been an effective late-inning reliever before and has been one of the more consistent strike-throwers out of the White Sox bullpen this year. But clearly, he isn't getting a job done.

While he certainly wouldn't pass as a strike-thrower, issuing 18 walks in 26 1/3 innings, Webb has been one of the White Sox's more reliable relievers this season. His ERA isn't as low as Zach Putnam's or Jake Petricka's, but he throws hard, which is what most teams want in a closer, and has a 1.35 ERA in his last 11 appearances.

If Robin Ventura doesn't turn to Webb next, opting for Putnam, Petricka or -- who knows? -- Javy Guerra instead, he's clearly making a deliberate effort to avoid the young right-hander, perhaps because he doesn't trust him to throw strikes.

And perhaps he shouldn't. Truth be told, whoever claims the closer role for the White Sox is about the last closer I'd want in Fantasy, even behind Chad Qualls.
