The game was the Sun Belt Conference opener for both teams.

Kane Williams had 17 points and nine rebounds for Georgia State (7-3), which won its sixth consecutive game. Justin Roberts added 15 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals. Jalen Thomas had 11 points and three blocks for the hosts.

David Azore scored a career-high 23 points for the Mavericks (4-8), who have now lost four games in a row. Brian Warren added 19 points. TiAndre Jackson-Young had 16 points.
