HATTISBURG, Miss. (AP) Clune Van Andel kicked three field goals and Arkansas State Red Wolves wore down Southern Mississippi for a 23-13 victory on Saturday night.

In addition to Van Andel's kicks of 29, 40 and 44 yards, Kenyon Clark and Timothy Carter had rushing touchdowns.

The Red Wolves (3-4, 1-2 Sun Belt Conference) had five punts, four of them were three-and-out drives, but their five scoring drives had between seven and 13 plays. They also chewed up the last 7:21 of the game with a 14-play drive to the Southern Miss Golden Eagles 11-yard line. That led to a 20-minute advantage in time of possession even though there was only a 15-yard difference in total offense.

Landry Lyddy threw for 208 yards and a touchdown but had a pair of interceptions for the Golden Eagles (1-5, 0-2), who also gave up the ball on downs three time. Steven Robinson had a rushing touchdown.

Arkansas State: home against Georgia State next Saturday.

Southern Miss: home against Louisiana-Lafayette next Saturday.
