What to Know
The NC State Wolfpack and the Florida State Seminoles are even-steven against one another since November of 2015 (3-3), but not for long. NC State and the Seminoles will face off in an ACC battle at 4 p.m. ET Saturday at Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium. The Wolfpack will be strutting in after a win while FSU will be stumbling in from a defeat.
The Louisville Cardinals typically have all the answers at home, but last week NC State proved too difficult a challenge. NC State captured a comfortable 28-13 victory. The score was all tied up at the break 7-7, but they were the better team in the second half. QB Devin Leary continued his habit of dropping crazy stat lines, passing for four TDs and 317 yards on 36 attempts.
Meanwhile, FSU was hampered by 85 penalty yards against the Clemson Tigers last week. The Seminoles took a 30-20 hit to the loss column. Despite the loss, they got a solid performance out of RB Lawrance Toafili, who caught one pass for one TD and 75 yards. Near the top of the highlight reel was Jordan Travis' 75-yard TD bomb to Toafili in the second quarter.
This next game is expected to be close, with the Wolfpack going off at just a 3-point favorite. They have been consistent moneymakers against the spread when favored (4-2), so they might be worth a quick bet.
NC State's victory brought them up to 6-2 while the Seminoles' loss pulled them down to 3-5. A couple defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: NC State is 163rd worst in the nation in passing touchdowns allowed, with nine on the season. FSU has experienced some passing struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 214th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 13 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
