Leonard Fournette has the rare combination of speed and power that makes a running back nearly unstoppable, particularly in college. In 2015, Fournette took those gifts of speed and size and rushed for 1,953 yards and 22 touchdowns.

LSU coach Les Miles wants to make sure Fournette doesn't go too far to the power side, asking his star tailback to drop close to 10 pounds by the time the season starts.

"I think Leonard was 235 or 233 (pounds) during spring," Miles told Paul Finebaum on Thursday. "We want him right around 225 so that his strength and speed are kind of maximized. He's an elite guy and he wants to be in an elite body as he goes into the fall."

Fournette can certainly carry the extra weight -- he was listed at 230 pounds in 2015 -- but Miles wants him a little bit trimmer for the 2016 season. Miles and staff think 225 is the ideal weight for the 6-foot-1 back to be at his best and maximize both elements of power and speed.

With how much the LSU offense leans on the run game, having Fournette at his best is very important to the Tigers' success in 2016.
