Packers' Kristian Welch: Going to IR
Green Bay placed Welch (ankle) on its injured reserve list Friday.
Welch suffered an ankle injury in Week 16 at Chicago, and it's apparently serious enough that he'll need to go to IR as he recovers. He won't be eligible to return to game action until the NFC Championship Game, if the Packers advance that far.

Packers' Kristian Welch: Unavailable for Week 17
Welch (ankle) has been ruled out for Saturday's contest against the Ravens, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official website reports.
Welch suffered an ankle injury in the team's Week 16 overtime loss to the Bears, and he'll now be forced to miss at least one contest as a result. The linebacker doesn't have a role on defense, so his absence will carry have the greatest impact on special teams.

Packers' Kristian Welch: Deemed DNP in walkthrough Tuesday
Welch (ankle) was listed as a non-participant in Tuesday's practice walkthrough, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Welch hurt his ankle in the second quarter of Saturday's loss to the Bears and was unable to return. It's unclear how severe the injury is, but his designation of DNP to begin Week 17 prep isn't a good sign for his chance of suiting up Saturday against Baltimore. Welch has logged just one defensive snap over eight games this season, so if he can't suit up versus the Ravens, his absence would mostly be felt on special teams.

Packers' Kristian Welch: Questionable to return with ankle
Welch (ankle) is questionable to return to Saturday night's game against the Bears.
Welch exited the game in the second quarter with an ankle injury, and it is unclear if he will be able to return. The weakside linebacker is primarily a special teamer, and if he is unable to return, Ty'Ron Hopper will likely see an increased amount of special-teams snaps.

Welch (concussion) will play in Green Bay's matchup against Denver on Sunday, Mike Spofford reports.
Welch has cleared the league's concussion protocol after sustaining one during the Week 14 win over the Bears. The 27-year-old should continue to contribute on special teams versus the Broncos.

Packers' Kristian Welch: Going back to Green Bay
Welch signed with the Packers on Friday, Zach Kruse of USA Today reports.
Welch previously played for Green Bay in 2023, when he appeared in 14 regular-season games exclusively as a special-teamer. The veteran linebacker saw time in 2024 with Baltimore and Denver, again working primarily in a special-teams role. Welch will likely reprise his status as a core special-teamer with the Packers next season but could log occasional defensive snaps as a depth linebacker.

Ravens' Kristian Welch: Signed to Ravens' active roster
Baltimore signed Welch from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.
Welch will give the Ravens some depth at inside linebacker, though he's mostly operated on special teams this year. He began the 2024 regular season with the Broncos, accumulating eight tackles (four solo) across six games. Veteran safety Eddie Jackson was waived from the Ravens' 53-man roster in a corresponding move.

Ravens' Kristian Welch: Re-signs with Baltimore
The Ravens re-signed Welch on Friday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Welch was originally an unrestricted free agent and despite not receiving a tender from Baltimore, the 24-year-old will still return to the team for next season. The 2020 undrafted free agent appeared in all 17 games last season logging three tackles (three solo) while playing almost exclusively on special teams. Welch should be expected to have a similar role next season as he'll look to once again add value as a special teamer.

Welch (concussion) is active for Sunday's game against the Steelers.

Ravens' Kristian Welch: Iffy for Sunday
Welch (concussion) is questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Ravens.
Welch suffered a concussion in Week 13 but was able to record back-to-back limited sessions before ending Week 14 prep as a full participant. He appears to be trending in the right direction, but if Welch is sidelined, Malik Harrison would likely step up as the top reserve linebacker behind Patrick Queen (thigh) and Roquan Smith.
