  • Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Scores 10 points off bench

Williamson finished with 10 points (5-5 FG, 0-4 FT) and one assist across 18 minutes in Wednesday's 101-97 preseason win over the Mavericks.

Williamson came off the bench Wednesday after starting in two preseason contests. While free throw shooting was an issue, he managed to drain all five of his attempts from the field. The 26-year-old ended the 2025-26 campaign by averaging 21.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.0 steals over 29.7 minutes per outing. Although Williamson certainly has the potential to make a few more All-Star appearances moving forward, his durability remains a significant concern.

  • Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Quiet in exhibition loss

Williamson recorded eight points (3-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, one assist and one steal in 16 minutes during Thursday's 128-118 preseason loss to Miami.

Williamson struggled to find his offensive rhythm, connecting on just three of his nine field-goal attempts while making minimal contributions elsewhere. The 26-year-old forward saw a limited workload in the exhibition contest, so his modest production isn't particularly concerning. Williamson remains a focal point of New Orleans' offense heading into the 2026-27 regular season, though his availability and durability will continue to be important considerations for fantasy managers.

  • Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Reports to camp in great shape

Williamson entered training camp in "impeccable condition," according to Pelicans executive Joe Dumars, who challenged the forward to prioritize his conditioning this offseason, according to New Orleans reporter Shamit Dua.

Dumars said Williamson accomplished that goal and has also been encouraged to expand his offensive game by taking more jumpers. Williamson is listed at 277 pounds, down from 284 last season, and improving his conditioning and perimeter game could help him remain productive while handling a significant role for New Orleans.

  • Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Coming off productive season

Williamson (knee) bounced back with a productive campaign in 2025-26, reestablishing himself as the focal point of New Orleans' offense despite the team's 26-56 finish.

Williamson remains one of the league's most efficient interior scorers when healthy and should once again lead the Pelicans in usage entering 2026-27. With no major offseason additions threatening his role, Williamson is expected to remain the franchise centerpiece.

  • Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Remaining out versus Minnesota

Williamson (knee) is listed as out for Sunday's game against Minnesota.

Williamson has missed the last two games, and with New Orleans eliminated from postseason contention, it is easy to understand why he isn't suiting up for the final game of the 2025-26 campaign. Without Williamson in the lineup, Derik Queen will likely receive as many minutes as he can handle.

  • Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Won't play Friday

Williamson is out for Friday's game against Boston due to right knee injury management.

It looks like the Pelicans are just about ready to shut down Williamson, though he'll have one more chance to appear during the regular season Sunday versus Minnesota. Derik Queen and Micah Peavy should see more playing time Friday for the depleted Pelicans.

  • Pelicans' Zion Williamson: Unlikely to play Tuesday

Williamson will dress for Tuesday's game against Utah, though he's unlikely to play, Erin Summers of the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network reports.

Williamson will be available versus the Jazz. However, he will likely only see action if necessary. With Herbert Jones and Saddiq Bey also not expected to see the floor, and Trey Murphy (ankle), Yves Missi (hand) and Dejounte Murray (hand) ruled out, Derik Queen and DeAndre Jordan are the favorites to enter the starting lineup.
