Anthony Johnson: Waived by Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh waived Johnson on Saturday.
Wideouts Johnson and Mathew Sexton were two of nine players let go by the Steelers on Saturday as they make moves to get down to the mandatory 53-man roster by Tuesday. Johnson spent the majority of the 2020 campaign on Pittsburgh's practice squad and is still vying for a chance to make his NFL debut.

Anthony Johnson: Lands on practice squad

Anthony Johnson: Waived with injury settlement
The Steelers have waived Johnson (knee) from injured reserve with an injury settlement, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Once Johnson is healthy, he'll be eligible to sign with another team. The receiver didn't play in his rookie season, though, so he'll likely seek a special-teams or practice-squad role.

Steelers' Anthony Johnson: Reverts to IR
Johnson (knee) cleared waivers Friday and reverted to the Steelers' injured reserve, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
It's unclear how serious Johnson's injury is, but now the only way he gets back on the field is if he reaches an injury settlement with the Steelers. The second-year receiver out of Buffalo was expected to get cut before Week 1 anyway.

Anthony Johnson: Waived/injured Thursday
Johnson suffered a knee injury in practice Monday and was waived/injured as a result, Joe Rutter of TribLive.com reports.
Johnson has a chance to re-join the Steelers if he clears waivers, although he will land on the reserve/injured list for the remainder of the season. The 2019 undrafted wideout from Buffalo was competing for a reserve role before suffering the injury, and he'll now shift his focus to preparing to make another push ahead of the 2021 campaign.

Steelers' Anthony Johnson: Practice squad candidate
Johnson appears to be a strong candidate for the practice squad, Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Projected as a high draft pick after a productive career at the University of Buffalo, Johnson went undrafted in 2019. He signed as a free agent with the Buccaneers and spent most of his rookie season on the Chargers' practice squad. He has the tools to make Pittsburgh's practice squad -- if not the 53-man roster -- but questions linger as to why he was not drafted and has been cut twice.

Steelers' Anthony Johnson: Lands in Pittsburgh
Johnson signed a reserve/future contract with the Steelers on Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
Johnson spent last offseason in Tampa Bay after going undrafted out of Buffalo, and he spent the 2019 regular season on the Chargers' practice squad. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound wideout now gets a chance to impress in Pittsburgh.

Anthony Johnson: Will sign with Bucs
The Buccaneers are expected to sign Johnson as an undrafted free agent, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Johnson was a starter in his final two seasons with the University of Buffalo, compiling 133 receptions for 2,367 yards and 25 touchdowns. He was clearly productive but questions about his footwork and quickness led to Johnson being undrafted. If he can crack the lineup after training camp, Johnson will likely work as a reserve wideout with special-teams duties.
