Petricka was designated for assignment by the Angels on Thursday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Petricka has looked quite poor in his six major-league innings this season, giving up 10 runs on six hits and seven walks. He'll be removed from the roster to create a spot for Alex Cobb to return from a wrist injury.
