Athletics' Brandon Bielak: Removed from 40-man roster

Oakland designated Bielak for assignment Sunday.

After throwing four scoreless innings against the Cubs on Sept. 16, Bielak unraveled in his latest appearance Friday against the Yankees, allowing four runs on two hits and four walks over 1.2 innings. He'll be replaced on the roster by Joe Boyle, who was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas.
