Maldonado is recovering from December 2023 Tommy John surgery, MLB Pipeline reports.
The Venezuelan righty used his upper-90s fastball to strike out 81 batters in 65 innings at Single-A San Jose in 2023, but his shaky command and control (13.9 BB%) led to a mediocre 4.71 ERA and 1.42 WHIP. Given the timing of Maldonado's surgery, he could be nearing game action around the start of the 2025 season.
