Giants' Mike Ford: Moved off 40-man roster

The Giants designated Ford for assignment Wednesday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Ford was dropped from the 40-man roster to clear a spot for infielder Donovan Walton, whom the Giants acquired from the Mariners in a trade Wednesday. If the 29-year-old isn't dealt elsewhere and passes through waivers without being claimed, he'll likely stick around in the Giants organization at Triple-A Sacramento.
