Fleming elected free agency Sunday.
Fleming cleared waivers after being removed from the Pirates' 40-man roster, but he refused an outright assignment to Triple-A Indianapolis and instead chose to become a free agent. The left-hander has posted a 4.02 ERA and 17:14 K:BB across 31.1 frames with the Pirates this season. He'll be able to find work in another organization but likely will have to settle for a minor-league contract.
