Thorpe was released by the Twins on Thursday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins

Thorpe began the season at Triple-A St. Paul and gave up eight runs in 1.2 innings. He was once regarded as a strong prospect in the Twins' system, and he made 24 appearances (seven starts) for Minnesota across the past three seasons. However, he'll now be free to seek out other opportunities.
