The Orioles released Diplan on Aug. 6.
Diplan was cut loose after Triple-A Norfolk needed to make room on its pitching staff for left-handed prospect Kevin Smith, who was promoted from Double-A Bowie earlier this month. Before being cast off Baltimore's 40-man roster in July, Diplan made five appearances out of the big-league bullpen this season and gave up one earned run over 5.2 innings.
