Matt Beaty: Elects free agency

Beaty cleared waivers and elected free agency Tuesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

After being designated for assignment by the Giants last week, Beaty went unclaimed on the waivers and will now look to sign elsewhere. The 30-year-old first baseman holds an .853 OPS in Triple-A this season, giving him a solid chance at landing with another team as organizational depth.
