Mets' Tomas Nido: Added to 40-man roster
Nido was added to the Mets' 40-man roster on Friday, ESPN's Adam Rubin reports.
He won the Florida State League batting title in 2016 by hitting .320 with just an 11.4 percent strikeout rate in 90 games, and in doing so forced the Mets to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. Nido also showed some pop, hitting seven home runs and slugging .459 in an environment that suppresses power. It was a surprising season for the pop-up prospect, but given how barren the landscape at the position is in the minors, Nido is worth tracking in 2017.
