Martin was designated for assignment on Monday, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
He was the casualty when the Nationals needed to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for Ryan Raburn, who was promoted to the big leagues. Martin has a 5.18 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 21 strikeouts in 20 relief appearances for Triple-A Syracuse this season.
