Nick Ciuffo: Heads to open market

The Orioles granted Ciuffo free agency Monday after outrighting him off the 40-man roster over the weekend, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

The 26-year-old Ciuffo has appeared in 21 big-league games over parts of three seasons, cobbling together a .188/.259/.292 slash line. Baltimore could still bring him back on a minor-league deal this winter, but Ciuffo will at least get the opportunity to weigh his options with other organizations as he becomes a free agent.
