Avila was designated for assignment by the Padres on Monday.
Tyler was optioned to Triple-A El Paso in mid-April, and he'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster after posting a 5.51 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 16.1 innings over 11 appearances (two starts) with the minor-league club. It seems likely that he'll remain in El Paso if he goes unclaimed on waivers.
