Padres' Luis Liberato: Selected by San Diego

Liberato's contract was selected from Triple-A El Paso on Friday.

The 26-year-old has never played in the majors, but he earned his first call-up by socking 20 home runs and posting an .895 OPS over 99 games with El Paso this season. He will join an already-crowded outfield, so he will likely fill only a limited role with the big club.
