The Pirates selected Ross's contract from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.
He's grabbing the roster spot vacated by Rafael Flores (concussion). Ross was slashing just .163/.272/.327 at Indianapolis, and his stint in the majors is likely to be brief, as Endy Rodriguez (glute) is due back soon. If Ross gets into a game, it will be his major-league debut.
