The Rays reassigned Hess to their minor-league camp Thursday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

Hess made 47 appearances and 33 starts with the Orioles over the past three seasons, but he never had much of a chance to win an Opening Day roster spot in Tampa, as the Rays have a far deeper pitching staff. He'll likely remain at the alternate site for the next month before reporting to Durham when the Triple-A club starts its season in May.
