Rays' Ryan Brett: To open year on DL

Brett (elbow) will open the year on the 7-day DL at Triple-A Durham, the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin reports.

He is presumably on the DL due to an ongoing elbow issue that has limited him to just 88 games since the start of the 2015 season. Brett was once seen as a player with a potentially plus hit tool, but the lost time and the fact that he is now 25 have erased any prior prospect intrigue.
