Reed was designated for assignment by the Reds on Monday.
Reed is coming off five straight scoreless appearances, but that run of success wasn't enough to keep him around with Robert Stephenson (back) rejoining the active roster. With this move, Amir Garrett is left as the lone southpaw remaining in the Reds' bullpen. Reed will now be subjected to waivers.
