Duarte had his contract selected by the Reds on Friday.
Duarte will join the 40-man roster in order to shield him from being selected during the upcoming Rule 5 draft. He had a 4.56 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 32:12 K:BB over 23.2 frames in the minors last season, and he could open 2022 at the Triple-A level.
