Espinal signed a minor-league contract with the Reds on Thursday.
He was assigned to Triple-A Louisville and made his organizational debut Saturday, covering three innings and striking out one while allowing two earned runs on three hits and one walk. Espinal, who had previously spent time in the Giants and Cubs organizations this season, made his MLB debut with Boston in 2021, when he made one appearance out of the Red Sox bullpen.
