Reds' Scott Heineman: Designated for assignment

Heineman was designated for assignment by the Reds on Monday.

The Reds decided they needed an extra infielder rather than an extra outfielder on the bench, removing Heineman from the roster and adding Alejo Lopez in his place. Heineman didn't do much to make the case that he should stick around, hitting .100/.206/.300 with a 44.1 percent strikeout rate in 34 plate appearances.
