Friedl will sit Saturday against the Pirates, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
Friedl hits the bench against lefty Rich Hill, but he's started against five of the other six southpaws the Reds have faced, so he still appears to be in something closer to an everyday role than a platoon. After hitting .300/.364/.471 in his first 20 games, he seems to be at little risk of losing playing time. Stuart Fairchild will start in left field.
