Abad was designated for assignment by Colorado on Sunday.
Abad gave up three runs in his inning of work against the Rangers on Saturday, and the Rockies selected the contract of Matt Carasiti to bring up a fresh arm for Sunday's finale versus Texas. Abad will hit the waiver wire, and if he goes unclaimed he'll likely report back to Triple-A Albuquerque early next week.
