Tigers' Jacob Barnes: Claims bullpen job

The Tigers informed Barnes on Tuesday that he'll be included in the team's Opening Day bullpen, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Fellow non-roster relievers Will Vest and Drew Hutchison are also set to make the team, so Detroit will need to make corresponding transactions to clear spots on the 40-man roster for all three pitchers. Barnes saw action in 29 big-league games between the Mets and Blue Jays in 2021, accruing a 6.28 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 28.2 innings. He'll likely see most of his initial opportunities out of the Detroit bullpen in lower-leverage spots.
