Tigers' Matt Vierling: Beginning assignment

Vierling (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Vierling began working out in Toledo on Thursday and will officially return to game action Friday. The 26-year-old outfielder will presumably get a handful of plate appearances in the minors before rejoining the Tigers early next week.
