Elledge was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Sunday.
The right-hander was claimed off waivers by Detroit in mid-May and had a 3.86 ERA across 10 appearances for Triple-A Toledo before being DFA'd. The 27-year-old could remain with the affiliate if he passes through waivers unclaimed.
