Twins' Royce Lewis: Protected from Rule 5 draft

Lewis (knee) was added to the Twins' 40-man roster Friday.

A foregone conclusion, Lewis was protected from the Rule 5 draft. He missed the entire 2021 season after suffering a torn ACL in February. Lewis should be ready for spring training and 2022 represents an important season for him, especially now that he is on the 40-man roster. He will likely be assigned to Triple-A, where he could spend most of the season as he looks to re-establish himself as a big part of Minnesota's future.
