Yankees' Phillip Evans: Fails to win roster spot

Evans was assigned to minor-league camp Friday.

Evans was in camp as a non-roster invitee and was trying to win a bench job, but he'll have to keep making his case in the minors for now. After posting a .206/.312/.299 slash line in 76 games for the Pirates last season, it's no surprise he wasn't viewed as a top option.
