  • Bummer (knee) was activated from the 15-day injured list and will serve as the 27th man for Sunday's doubleheader against the Yankees. Bummer has been sidelined the last couple weeks by a right knee strain, but he'll rejoin the active roster without requiring a minor-league rehab assignment. The 28-year-old is likely to remain on the big-league roster beyond Sunday, so the White Sox will need to send down another player after the twin bill.

  • Bummer (knee) is expected to return from the injured list when first eligible Sunday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Bummer has been out with a sore knee since early May, but it looks as though he won't need more than a minimum-length absence. He wasn't at his best prior to the injury, posting a 4.91 ERA over 11 innings, but he recorded a 2.63 ERA over the previous three seasons and should be one of the White Sox's top bullpen options going forward if he can get back to that level.

  • Bummer (knee) has thrown a bullpen session but has yet to resume sprinting, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Bummer has been on the injured list with a strained right knee since Monday. The fact that he's been able to throw is undoubtedly a good sign, but whether or not he'll be back when first eligible remains to be seen.

  • Bummer (knee) believes he can return from the injured list in the minimum 15 days, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. Bummer will be eligible to return May 22 and seemingly has a chance to do so, but it's unclear whether his optimism is shared by the White Sox organization. He wasn't at his best prior to the injury, as he struggled to a 4.91 ERA and 1.73 WHIP in 11 innings.

  • Bummer (knee) was placed on the 15-day injured list as expected Monday. Bummer hadn't pitched since Friday, so the transaction can be backdated two days, leaving him eligible to return May 22. It's not entirely clear whether or not he'll be able to do so, especially with the White Sox now referring to his injury as a strain rather than merely soreness. Joe Kelly (biceps) returned from the injured list to take his place in the bullpen.
