Jimmy Crooks C | STL
Cardinals' Jimmy Crooks: Sitting again Sunday
Crooks is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.
The left-handed-hitting Crooks was expected to get a look as the Cardinals' top backstop over the final few weeks of the season, but he's now sat in four of St. Louis' last five matchups, with three of his absences coming against right-handed pitching. Entering Sunday, the 72-77 Cardinals sit just four games behind the pace for the final wild-card spot in the National League, which may be a factor in the team's decision to lean more heavily of late on Pedro Pages, who lacks Crooks' upside as a hitter but is a more trusted defender behind the dish.

William Contreras C | MIL
Brewers' William Contreras: Receiving Sunday off
Contreras is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
Contreras is batting .324 (12-for-34) through 11 games in September, though his lone extra-base hit (a double) has resulted in a .351 slugging percentage. The 27-year-old will receive a rare day off Sunday after the Brewers were the first team in MLB to clinch a spot in the playoffs.

Drake Baldwin C | ATL
Braves' Drake Baldwin: Resting Sunday
Baldwin is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.
Baldwin had started in each of the last nine games -- eight at catcher, one at designated hitter -- but he'll get a well-deserved breather for Sunday's matinee. Sandy Leon will step in behind the plate in the rookie's stead.

Tyler Stephenson C | CIN
Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Delivers three-run blast
Stephenson went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a second run scored in Saturday's 11-5 loss to the Athletics.
Stephenson logged his first multi-hit effort since returning from a fractured thumb. He's gone 4-for-21 (.190) since his return, though three of those hits have gone for extra bases, and he's added seven RBI in that span. For the season, the catcher is up to a .223/.309/.403 slash line with 11 homers, 43 RBI, 36 runs scored and 16 doubles over 79 contests.

William Contreras C | MIL
Brewers' William Contreras: Drives in three runs Saturday
Contreras went 2-for-3 with three RBI during the Brewers' 9-8 extra-inning win over the Cardinals on Saturday.
Contreras played a key role in the Brewers' comeback victory Saturday, when he smacked a sacrifice fly in the sixth and eighth innings before tying the game at 7-7 in the ninth on an infield single that brought Sal Frelick home. It was Contreras' fourth game this season that he recorded at least three RBI, all of which have come since Aug. 10. He has gone 12-for-37 (.324) with five RBI and seven runs scored since Sept. 1.

Gabriel Moreno C | ARI
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Drives in go-ahead run
Moreno went 2-for-5 with an RBI single and a run scored during the Diamondbacks' 5-2 extra-inning win over the Twins on Saturday.
Moreno broke the 2-2 tie in the 10th inning with an infield RBI single before coming home to score two batters later on a Blaze Alexander two-run double. Moreno has logged exactly two hits in each of his last five games, going 10-for-20 (.500) with one steal, two homers and six RBI over that span. He has a 1.011 OPS in 70 plate appearances since returning from the 10-day injured list in late August.

Chuckie Robinson C | ATL
Dodgers' Chuckie Robinson: Summoned to Los Angeles
The Dodgers recalled Robinson from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday.
Robinson's presence on the big-league roster is needed with Will Smith (hand) landing on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Robinson has a career .364 OPS over 51 major-league games, so fantasy managers need not rush to the waiver wire to pick him up. He's slated to work as the Dodgers' backup catcher behind Ben Rortvedt until Dalton Rushing (shin) or Smith is ready to return from the IL.

Will Smith C | LAD
Dodgers' Will Smith: Moved to IL
The Dodgers placed Smith on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a right hand contusion.
Smith initially suffered the injury Sept. 3, when he took a foul tip off his hand. He was able to return to the lineup for Tuesday's 7-2 win over the Rockies, but Smith hasn't played since and will now go on the IL after manager Dave Roberts noted that the backstop wasn't making much improvement, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. With Smith's IL stint being backdated to Wednesday, he'll be eligible to return Sept. 20, and Roberts suggested that the backstop could be ready to go by that date. In the meantime, Ben Rortvedt will likely serve as the team's primary backstop.

Freddy Fermin C | SD
Padres' Freddy Fermin: Sitting Saturday
Fermin isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Colorado.
Fermin will give way to Elias Diaz behind the plate after going 1-for-5 with a run scored through the first two games of the series.

Will Smith C | LAD
Dodgers' Will Smith: Out of Saturday's lineup
Smith (hand) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.
Now set to miss his eighth game in 10 days due to a lingering hand injury, Smith could be facing a trip to the injured list if his condition doesn't improve soon. Ben Rortvedt will start behind the plate again and bat ninth.
