  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Braves' Sean Murphy: Getting breather Sunday

Murphy isn't in the starting lineup Sunday versus the Yankees.

Murphy had started each of Atlanta's previous six games either at catcher or DH, but he'll get a rest Sunday. He went 8-for-23 with three homers and seven RBI during that six-game stretch, justifying Atlanta's decision to get his bat into the lineup even on days when he didn't catch. Marcell Ozuna, who has been playing through a hip issue, is back in the lineup at DH on Sunday after beginning on the bench three straight days.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Receiving rest Sunday

Bailey is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bailey started the first two games coming out of the All-Star break and five straight overall, and he'll take a seat Sunday after going 7-for-16 with a walk and two runs during that stretch. Andrew Knizner will take over behind the plate to catch for lefty Robbie Ray in the series finale versus Toronto.

  • Hunter Goodman RF | COL

Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Lifts 18th homer

Goodman went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Saturday's 10-6 win over the Twins.

Goodman got some time off around his All-Star Game appearance, but he should continue to see starting catcher duties moving forward. He's up to 18 homers on the year, including four over 10 contests in July despite hitting a modest .243 (9-for-37) this month. The 25-year-old is at a .282/.329/.528 slash line with 55 RBI, 48 runs scored, 18 doubles, four triples and one stolen bases through 86 games in a breakout campaign.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Riding pine Saturday

Kelly isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox.

Kelly opened up the second half by going 0-for-3 with a walk Friday, and he'll now grab a seat on the bench while Reese McGuire catches for Shota Imanaga and bats eighth.

  • Jose Herrera C | TEX

Diamondbacks' Jose Herrera: Not in Saturday's lineup

Herrera isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game versus the Cardinals, SI.com reports.

Herrera will rest his legs Saturday after going 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Friday's win. James McCann will replace him as Arizona's catcher and bat seventh.

  • Riley Adams C | WAS

    Nationals' Riley Adams: Resting Saturday

Adams isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

After opening the second half with a three-strikeout performance Friday, Adams will step aside Saturday while Drew Millas starts behind the plate.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Finds power stroke after ASB

Stephenson went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and a two-run home run in Friday's 8-4 win over the Mets.

Starting at DH and batting seventh, Stephenson socked the fourth of Cincinnati's four homers on the night by taking Alex Carrillo deep in the sixth inning. The blast snapped a 21-game homerless drought for Stephenson, as the 28-year-old backstop went into the All-Star break slashing just .176/.275/.221 during that slump. On the season, he sports a .727 OPS with seven home runs and 29 RBI in 55 contests.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Moved to 60-day IL

Moreno (finger) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.

Moreno was hit by a wild pitch June 6, and after attempting to play through the injury, he was placed on the IL on June 19. It was revealed shortly after that he sustained a hairline fracture in his right index finger. The catcher hasn't been cleared to hit or throw. The move will keep him sidelined until at least mid-August. Jose Herrera and James McCann should handle most of the catching duties while Moreno is out.

  • Hunter Goodman RF | COL

    Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Sitting Friday

Goodman is not in Friday's lineup against the Twins.

Goodman will get the final game of the first half and the first game of the second half off, with his first All-Star appearance sandwiched in between. Austin Nola will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Slowly resuming baseball activities

Nationals interim manager Miguel Cairo said Friday that Ruiz (concussion) has started participating in baseball activities, but the Nationals plan to ramp up his workload slowly, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Ruiz landed on the 7-day concussion injured list July 8, and Washington is taking a cautious approach with his return to the active roster. Ruiz doesn't have an official target date for his return and should be considered week-to-week as he continues to ramp up his baseball work.
