  • Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Out again with thumb issue

Goodman (thumb) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer noted Tuesday that Goodman is dealing with a thumb injury and is considered day-to-day, Guerilla Sports reports. It's unclear when he was first injured, but Goodman has sat out two straight games and three of the last four contests. Braxton Fulford will start at catcher and will bat eighth for Colorado.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Not starting Wednesday

Alvarez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Orioles.

After starting each of the last three games behind the dish, Alvarez will get some rest during Wednesday's tilt. Luis Torrens will do the catching and bat ninth for the Mets.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATH

Athletics' Jonah Heim: On bench Wednesday

Heim is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

The 31-year-old will yield to Brian Serven behind the plate after catching three of the Athletics' last four games. Heim has hit 12 homers in 85 games with the A's this season, but he has been in a funk of late, slashing .175/.195/.275 with just one long ball so far in September.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Day off Wednesday

Kirk is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Tigers.

Kirk was behind the dish for the first two games of the series, so he'll be given some rest during Wednesday's matinee. Brandon Valenzuela will do the catching and will bat eighth as the Blue Jays look to avoid the sweep.

  • Edgar Quero C | CHW

White Sox's Edgar Quero: Jettisoned back to minors

The White Sox optioned Quero to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

He's clearing off the active roster in order to make space for the return of Tommy Pham (calf) from the injured list. Quero went hitless in five plate appearances during his most recent stint in the majors.

  • Pirates' Rafael Flores: Four hits in Tuesday's loss

Flores went 4-for-4 in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Brewers.

All four knocks were singles, but it was still an impressive way for Flores to extend his hitting streak to nine games. During that span, the 25-year-old catcher is batting .441 (15-for-34) with a double and a homer but just two runs and two RBI as the Pittsburgh offense as a whole has struggled over the final weeks of the season -- Tuesday marked the sixth time in 13 September contests that the Pirates scored two runs or fewer.

  • Elias Diaz C | TEX

Rangers' Elias Diaz: Knocks in two in win

Diaz served as the designated hitter and went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Red Sox.

Diaz delivered a pair of runs with a second-inning double to kick off a four-run inning for the Rangers. The catcher has been productive in September and could see more opportunities at DH as the Rangers compete for a postseason berth. Diaz has an .805 OPS with nine RBI over 11 games this month.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Big game in loss

Moreno went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two walks and a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-2 extra-innings loss to the Marlins.

Moreno did a bit of everything in this contest, including catching all 11 innings. He has gone 15-for-43 (.349) with three homers over his last 11 contests. The catcher is batting .303 with an .856 OPS, 14 homers, 74 RBI, 64 runs scored, six steals, 31 doubles and one triple across a career-high 121 contests.

  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Belts homer in loss

Campusano went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 9-3 loss to the Rockies.

Campusano is up to eight homers on the year, including three over his last 11 games. The catcher went yard in the second inning of Tuesday's contest to give the Padres an early 2-0 lead. Overall, Campusano has maintained a .273 average and .823 OPS with 29 RBI, 22 runs scored, 12 doubles and no stolen bases across 228 plate appearances this season.

  • Joe Mack C | MIA

Marlins' Joe Mack: Taking seat Tuesday

Mack isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Arizona

Mack has notched a base hit and scored a run in back-to-back games, but the Marlins will have him begin Tuesday's contest on the bench while starting Agustin Ramirez behind the plate.
