Hicks is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

The 26-year-old was included in the lineup Saturday when Colorado sent right-hander Michael Lorenzen to the mound, but he's been on the bench for matchups against southpaws Kyle Freeland and Jose Quintana. Hicks should have a fairly clear path to playing time versus righties while Christopher Morel (oblique) and Kyle Stowers (hamstring) are on the injured list, but at-bats could be more difficult to come by once the Marlins get healthier.

Alvarez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

It's just a maintenance day for Alvarez after he started the first two games of the season. He's gone 2-for-6 with a walk, a solo home run and an additional run scored. Luis Torrens will catch for righty Nolan McLean on Sunday.

Narvaez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Narvaez started behind the plate in the first two games of the season and will get a breather in Sunday's series finale after going 3-for-6 with a run and a strikeout. Connor Wong will instead do the catching for lefty Connelly Early.

Kirk is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

He'll get a breather after starting behind the plate in the Blue Jays' first two games of the season and going 1-for-9 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run. Tyler Heineman will step in behind the dish, forming a battery with Eric Lauer.

Jansen is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

Jansen drew starts in the first two contests of the season, but he'll get a chance to catch his breath while Texas closes out its series in Philadelphia with a day game. Though Kyle Higashioka will receive the nod at catcher Sunday, Jansen looks to be the preferred option behind the plate.

Jeffers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Baltimore, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Jeffers started behind the plate in the first two games of the year and went 1-for-7 with a walk and three strikeouts. He'll get some rest in the series finale while Victor Caratini serves as the catcher for Bailey Ober on Sunday.

Rutschman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

With Baltimore closing out its season-opening series against the Twins with a day game, Rutschman will rest after starting the first two contests. Samuel Basallo will fill in for Rutschman at catcher.

Amaya went 2-for-4 with a home run, an additional run scored and two total RBI in Saturday's 10-2 win over the Nationals.

After ceding the Opening Day start behind the dish to Carson Kelly, Amaya started Chicago's second game of the year and made quite the impact from the No. 9 spot in the order. The 27-year-old catcher was limited to only 28 games last season due to injuries, and he missed the team's entire postseason run. Amaya said he felt fully healthy during spring training, and if he can stay off the IL, he should split time with Kelly behind the plate.

Fry started at catcher and went 2-for-5 with a double in Saturday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Mariners.

Fry made his season debut and caught a game for the first time since July of 2024, as he was limited to DH and pinch hitting duties last season while completing his recovery from elbow surgery. Now fully healthy, Fry can get behind the dish again along with his other utility duties. He's the third-string catcher behind Bo Naylor and Austin Hedges, who is day-to-day with a hand injury.

Smith went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 3-2 win against Arizona.

It was a big day for the All-Star catcher, who not only celebrated his 31st birthday but also was the subject of a bobblehead giveaway at Dodger Stadium. After failing to reach base in his first three plate appearances, Smith came through in the clutch, smacking a two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to flip a one-run deficit into a one-run lead. Smith's 2025 campaign concluded with a game-winning homer in Game 7 of the World Series, and he's off to a fast start in 2026, slashing .273/.273/.818 with two long balls and five RBI through three games.
