    Smith has homered in consecutive contests. He went yard in the third inning Saturday and then added an RBI single in the sixth. The catcher had gone 14 games without a multi-RBI game coming into the contest, batting .211 (8-for-38) in that span. For the season, he's hitting .249 with a .756 OPS, nine homers, 33 RBI, 33 runs scored, no stolen bases and nine doubles across 68 contests.

    Pirates' Henry Davis: Making impact at plate

    Davis went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI against the Royals on Friday.

    Davis started behind the plate for the second consecutive game and made an impact at the plate in both contests. He popped his 10th home run of the season Thursday and then provided an insurance run with an infield single Friday. Davis is still having a poor offensive season overall, but he has set career-high marks in homers, RBI and runs scored.

    Dodgers' Will Smith: Belts homer in late barrage

    Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 8-2 win over the Giants.

    Smith has gone 8-for-29 (.276) over his last 10 contests, adding two homers and three doubles in that span. The catcher had the last of the Dodgers' four homers in the eighth inning Friday. Smith is batting .241 with a .733 OPS, eight long balls, 31 RBI, 31 runs scored, nine doubles and no stolen bases over 67 contests this season.

  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Absent from lineup Friday

    Campusano is not in the lineup for Friday's matchup against Miami.

    After going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts during Thursday's series finale against Colorado, Campusano will rest for Friday's series opener against the Marlins. Manny Machado will slot in as the designated hitter, while Ethan Salas will catch and bat ninth for San Diego.

    Ruiz is not in the lineup for Friday's game in St. Louis.

    Ruiz is slashing .310/.366/.451 in the second half but has been splitting reps at catcher with Harry Ford over the past several weeks. It will be Ford behind the dish and batting eighth in Friday's series opener.

  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Not in lineup Friday

    Dingler is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox.

    Dingler has been in a prolonged slump at the plate, as he's seen his OPS plummet more than 100 points since late July. Over his last 45 games, Dingler is slashing just .179/.224/.285 with five home runs, 22 RBI and a 7:51 BB:K across 192 plate appearances. Eduardo Valencia is starting at catcher and batting eighth Friday.

  • Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Exiting starting nine

    Alvarez is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Phillies.

    Alvarez had a two-homer game earlier this month but has gone 4-for-30 at the plate since. He will yield to Luis Torrens at catcher Friday.
