Dugan Darnell RP | COL
Pirates' Dugan Darnell: Claimed by Pirates
The Pirates claimed Darnell (hip) off waivers from the Rockies on Friday and placed him on the 60-day injured list, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.
Darnell posted a 3.86 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in the majors this year across 11.2 innings, though his season was cut short in late August by a torn labrum in his left hip. Now in the Pirates organization, the 28-year-old righty will be entering a more pitcher-friendly environment compared to Colorado. However, he'll still likely be limited to middle-relief duties in Pittsburgh.

Dodgers' Alex Vesia: Away from team
The Dodgers announced Thursday that Vesia is away from the team for personal reasons.
The Dodgers have yet to finalize their roster for the World Series, and it's unclear whether Vesia's situation will prevent him from pitching in the Fall Classic against the Blue Jays. Shelby Miller RP | MIL
Brewers' Shelby Miller: Requires UCL, flexor surgery
Miller is likely to miss most, if not all, of the 2026 season after undergoing UCL and flexor tendon surgery Oct. 13, MLB.com reports.
Miller had been hopeful of a less invasive procedure that would give him a chance to return before the end of the 2026 campaign, but ultimately he's unlikely to pitch again until 2027. It's the second UCL repair for Miller, who had Tommy John surgery in May 2017. He's an impending free agent after posting a 2.74 ERA and 54:15 K:BB over 46 innings between the Diamondbacks and Brewers this season.
