John Curtiss RP | ARI
Diamondbacks' John Curtiss: Outrighted to Reno
Curtiss cleared waivers Wednesday and was sent outright to Triple-A Reno, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Curtiss finished the 2025 campaign with a 3.93 ERA and 0.93 WHIP alongside a 24:5 K:BB across 36.2 innings. However, with the Diamondbacks aiming to clear roster space before free agency begins, the 32-year-old righty will lose his place on the 40-man roster. He will have the option to elect free agency.

Jose Alvarado RP | PHI
Phillies' Jose Alvarado: Club option exercised
The Phillies exercised Alvarado's (forearm) club option Wednesday.
As expected, the Phillies have opted to pick up the $9.5 million club option on Alvarado for the 2026 season. He ended the 2025 campaign on the 15-day injured list due to a left forearm strain, and he missed 80 games earlier in the season due to a PED suspension. Across the 28 appearances he made in 2025, Alvarado posted a 3.81 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and seven saves over 26 innings. He'll have the offseason to heal from his injury and will aim to be available for the start of spring training.

Freddy Tarnok RP | MIA
Marlins' Freddy Tarnok: Scrubbed from 40-man roster
The Marlins outrighted Tarnok to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.
Tarnok has been outrighted previously, so he has the ability to reject Wednesday's outright assignment and become a free agent. The right-hander pitched well during his limited chances in relief with the Marlins in 2025, allowing two runs on just one hit and a 10:4 K:BB over 7.1 innings.

Tyler Zuber RP | MIA
Marlins' Tyler Zuber: Activated, outrighted to Triple-A
The Marlins activated Zuber (lat) from the 60-day injured list and outrighted him to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.
Having previously been outrighted, Zuber has the option to elect free agency. The right-hander missed the final month of the regular season with a strained lat, but he should be fully recovered by spring training.

Jesus Tinoco RP | MIA
Marlins' Jesus Tinoco: Outrighted to Triple-A
The Marlins activated Tinoco (elbow) from the 60-day injured list and outrighted him to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.
Tinoco has been outrighted previously, so he has the ability to elect free agency. The right-handed reliever will be sidelined until 2027 after undergoing UCL surgery in September.

Troy Johnston RF | COL
Rockies' Troy Johnston: Goes to Rockies via waivers
The Rockies claimed Johnston off waivers from the Marlins on Wednesday.
Johnston reached the majors for the first time in 2025 as a 28-year-old and fared well, slashing .277/.331/.420 with four home runs over 121 plate appearances. He can play first base and the corner outfield spots and should have a decent path to playing time on a talent-deficient Rockies roster.

Chris Sale SP | ATL
Braves' Chris Sale: Atlanta picks up $18 million option
Atlanta exercised Sale's $18 million option for 2026 on Wednesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
The decision was fait accompli, as Sale has re-emerged as one of the best pitchers in baseball since joining Atlanta, collecting a 2.46 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 390:71 K:BB over 303.1 innings since the beginning of the 2024 campaign. Sale missed more than two months of action this season with a left ribcage fracture, but he finished the year healthy and was superb after returning from the injury with a 2.72 ERA and 51:6 K:BB over his final 36.1 frames. The veteran lefty will turn 37 just after Opening Day next season.

Jack Little P | DET
Pirates' Jack Little: Placed on waivers
The Pirates placed Little on outright waivers Tuesday, Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com reports.
The Pirates claimed Little off waivers from the Dodgers in August, but he never made an appearance for Pittsburgh. He posted a 2.79 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across 19.1 innings at Triple-A Indianapolis, however, which could be enough for another team to give the 27-year-old reliever a 40-man spot early in the offseason.
