  • Giants' Cesar Perdomo: Solid in no-decision

Perdomo didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Twins, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

Perdomo was another solid appearance overall for Perdomo, who's held opponents to two runs or fewer in four of his five appearances this season. The 24-year-old southpaw made a decent case to open the 2027 campaign in San Francisco's rotation. Perdomo will likely finish the year with a 3.65 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 14:7 K:BB across 24.2 innings.

  • Alek Jacob RP | SD

Padres' Alek Jacob: Designated for assignment

The Padres designated Jacob for assignment Wednesday.

After turning in a 5.58 ERA and 1.54 WHIP across 61.1 innings at Triple-A El Paso, Jacob will lose his place on San Diego's 40-man roster to clear space for Jason Adam (shoulder), who returned from the 60-day IL on Wednesday. Jacob's career numbers in the majors are respectable (4.18 ERA, 1.23 WHIP), though his poor performance in the minors may deter other teams from claiming him off waivers.

  • Padres' Griffin Canning: Optioned to ACL

The Padres optioned Canning to the Arizona Complex League on Wednesday.

Canning owns a 5.57 ERA and 1.51 WHIP through 85.2 innings with the Padres this season but has given up just one earned run while striking out 14 batters over his last 14.2 innings. Despite his improved performance, he'll be pushed out of San Diego's bullpen to make room for Jason Adam (shoulder), who returned from the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

  • Jason Adam RP | SD

Padres' Jason Adam: Back from injured list

The Padres reinstated Adam (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Adam has been held out of action since late June by a strained right shoulder, but he'll return in time to give the Padres' bullpen extra support as they push toward securing a wild-card spot. The 35-year-old righty held a 2.51 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 32.1 innings when he got injured, but the Padres may refrain from using him in high-leverage situations right away after he allowed nine earned runs in just 1.1 innings during his rehab assignment at Triple-A El Paso.

  • Bo Davidson RF | SF

Giants' Bo Davidson: Exits early Wednesday

Davidson was removed from Wednesday's game against the Twins with a foot injury, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Davidson remained in the game for a while after fouling a ball off his foot in the sixth inning, but he was eventually replaced in the outfield when the Giants' defense took the field in the ninth. X-rays on his foot came back negative shortly after the game, per Pavlovic, but Scott Bandura and Grant McCray could be candidates to start in right field if Davidson is unable to play in Friday's series opener against the Dodgers.

  • Kyle Hurt RP | LAD

Dodgers' Kyle Hurt: Demoted to Triple-A

The Dodgers optioned Hurt to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Noah Camras of SI.com reports.

Hurt pitched two shutout innings during his appearance Tuesday against the Padres but will now be sent back to the minors to make room for Tarik Skubal, who returned from the bereavement list Wednesday. Assuming Hurt has thrown is last pitch in the majors this season, he'll close out 2026 with a 4.14 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 58:23 K:BB over 45.2 innings.

  • Tarik Skubal SP | LAD

Dodgers' Tarik Skubal: Back with team

The Dodgers reinstated Skubal from the bereavement list Wednesday, Noah Camras of SI.com reports.

After spending the past three days away from the team tending to personal matters, Skubal will rejoin the Dodgers a couple of days in advance of his final regular-season start Friday in San Francisco. Kyle Hurt was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

  • Josue De Paula DH | LAD

Dodgers' Josue De Paula: Optioned to minors

The Dodgers optioned De Paula to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Noah Camras of SI.com reports.

De Paula dazzled during his first 11 games in the majors, slashing .323/.500/.581 with a home run, seven RBI, seven runs scored, a steal and an 11:5 BB:K across 42 plate appearances. However, with Shohei Ohtani (knee/biceps) returning from the injured list Wednesday, there is no room for the Dodgers' top prospect to get regular at-bats with the big club. That being said, De Paula could still be in play to contribute during Los Angeles' postseason run.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

    Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Officially activated

The Dodgers reinstated Ohtani (knee/biceps) from the injured list Wednesday, Noah Camras of SI.com reports.

After taking a couple of weeks off to recover from knee and biceps injuries that have bothered him for much of the second half, Ohtani will return to the active roster in time to play out the Dodgers' final five regular-season contests. The two-way star will only be contributing as a hitter, however, as he isn't expected to make an appearance on the mound for the rest of the year. Josue De Paula was sent down to the minors in a corresponding move.

  • Xzavion Curry RP | NYM

Mets' Xzavion Curry: Designated for assignment

The Mets designated Curry for assignment Wednesday, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports.

After being optioned to Triple-A last week, Curry will now lose his spot on the 40-man roster as well to make room for Philip Abner, who was claimed off waivers from San Francisco on Wednesday. Curry has appeared in nine games for the Mets this season, turning in a 5.48 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over 21.1 innings.
