  • Hornets' Cody Zeller: Registers double-double Friday
    By RotoWire Staff

Zeller scored 15 points (6-6 FG, 3-7 FT) while adding 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocks across 32 minutes in Friday's 112-105 loss to the Cavaliers. Although a tall center, Zeller has not reached 10 rebounds in a game all that much on the year as Friday night marked his eighth game where he accomplished that feat. He's been a consistent starter for the Hornets and doesn't have to worry about minutes, so if he can grab more rebounds and hit five of his 10 shots he shoots on average in a game, he can be a more utilized fantasy option.

  • Hornets' Cody Zeller: Swipes season-high four steals
    By RotoWire Staff

Zeller tallied 19 points (8-10 FG, 3-5 FT), five rebounds, four steals and two blocks across 33 minutes during Saturday's 98-93 victory over the Wizards. Zeller had one of his best two-way performances of the season Saturday, missing only two shots for 19 points and collecting a combined six steals and blocks. Fantasy owners likely don't rely upon Zeller for their defensive needs -- as he averages just 1.0 blocks and 0.9 steals per game -- but he showed flashes of his potential against the Wizards. He should continue to be relied upon for his season averages of 10.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

  • Zeller contributed 13 points (5-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals across 34 minutes during Monday's 100-88 win over the Pacers. Making his second straight start in place of the injured Frank Kaminsky (shoulder), Zeller topped the 30-minute mark for the first time since returning from an injury of his own, delivering his highest outputs in points and rebounds as well. Kaminsky is expected to miss at least another week, so Zeller seems to be in line for increased court time, and if Monday's performance is any indication, additional production should be expected as well.

  • Zeller will draw the start at center for Saturday's matchup against the Nuggets. With Frank Kaminsky (shoulder) out, Zeller will draw the start at center. Reserve center Miles Plumlee (calf) is also out, so Zeller could be in for a much bigger workload than his usual 26.5 minutes per game, and could benefit from the uptempo play of the Nuggets.

  • Zeller accumulated six points (3-5 FG), eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals across 24 minutes off the bench during Thursday's 120-103 loss to the Suns. Zeller has now totaled 12 points and 13 rebounds across 42 minutes in two games since returning from a quad injury that caused him to miss six straight outings. The Indiana product is having the most productive season of his four-year career -- despite shooting a career-low 67.2 percent from the free-throw line -- averaging 10.6 points on 58.6 percent shooting, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks across 26.5 minutes per game. That being said, in Zeller's six-game absence, Frank Kaminsky stepped up his game, averaging 19.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 1.0 steals across 36.0 minutes per game during that stretch. Coach Steve Clifford will have some tough rotational choices to make moving forward, as each player has shown they're capable of solid production when given the workload. It's possible that Kaminsky and Zeller could share the floor more often -- allowing each to garner significant minutes -- but it would likely come at the cost of either Marvin Williams' or Michael Kidd-Gilchrists' playing time, who are both talented players in their own right. Whatever coach Clifford's decision, Zeller's fantasy production likely won't waver too much from what he's done prior to his injury, as it seems probable that he'll see around 25 minutes per game regardless of whether he starts or comes off the bench.
