Zeller (hand) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Indiana. Zeller is still nursing a hand injury that will likely keep him out for several more games. With Zeller out, Frank Kaminsky and Willy Hernangomez appear to be the prime beneficiaries.
Zeller (hand) has progressed to on-court activities, Rod Boone of The Athletic reports. Zeller remains unsure about how long he'll be sidelined, but his progression to on-court activities is encouraging. His initial timetable has him set to return sometime in early-to-mid February, and there's nothing to indicate that's changed.
Zeller (hand) underwent surgery on his right hand Thursday and is projected to be out for 4-to-6 weeks. The Hornets will be without their starting center for at least the next month while Zeller rehabs from surgery, so Willy Hernangomez and Frank Kaminsky should be in store for an uptick in playing time. Updates on Zeller's status should come to light as he inches towards a return to the court.
Zeller posted 14 points (3-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 8-8 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one block across 24 minutes in Monday's 125-100 win over the Magic before exiting with a fractured hand in the third quarter. Zeller's excellent night was overshadowed by the injury, which will more than likely keep him sidelined for multiple weeks. The Hornets should provide an official timeline for his recovery once it's determined whether or not surgery will be necessary. The injury disrupts what has quietly been a productive campaign for Zeller, who is averaging 9.3 points (on 55.8 percent shooting from the field and 84.2 percent shooting from the charity stripe), 6.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 24.5 minutes per contest. Willy Hernangomez and Frank Kaminsky should be the main beneficiaries of Kaminsky's absence, with the former the top candidate to move into the starting five.
Zeller (hand) is expected to miss multiple games, Rod Boone of The Athletic reports. Zeller fractured his right hand during Monday's game against the Magic. While a few games was the initial timetable given by the coaching staff directly after the game, the Hornets' organization will likely give a more definitive timetable in the near future. Until then, Willy Hernangomez, Frank Kaminsky and Bismack Biyombo will have an opportunity for more playing time.
