Anunoby (elbow) tallied 12 points (5-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt), two steals and one rebound across 29 minutes Friday in the Knicks' 108-100 loss to the Bulls. After appearing in three straight games from March 12 through March 16 following his return from Feb. 8 surgery to remove a loose fragment in his elbow, Anunoby didn't respond as well as hoped in his return to action and was subsequently shut down. Despite the Knicks providing limited updates on Anunoby's progress over the last three weeks, he was surprisingly upgraded to available ahead of Friday's game and took back his spot in the starting five from Miles McBride. Anunoby shot the ball well but wasn't especially impactful in the box score, but the Knicks are likely just happy to have one of their top defenders back in the fold as the postseason nears. Provided his elbow doesn't present any complications moving forward, Anunoby should eventually settle back into a 35-plus-minute role in competitive contests.... See More ... See Less

Knicks' OG Anunoby: In starting lineup
Anunoby (elbow) is in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Bulls. No surprise here, as Anunoby was previously upgraded to probable. There's no word of any restrictions ahead of tipoff, and Miles McBride will return to the bench with Anunoby cleared.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' OG Anunoby: Upgraded to probable
Anunoby (elbow) is probable for Friday's game against the Bulls. Anunoby is expected to make his return Friday following a nine-game absence due to lingering discomfort in his surgically repaired right elbow. He's yet to come off the bench as a Knick, but the veteran forward will likely face major restrictions if he's cleared to suit up, as he's appeared in just three games since Jan. 27.... See More ... Knicks' OG Anunoby: Listed questionable for Friday
Anunoby (elbow) is questionable for Friday's game against the Bulls. Anunoby has missed nine straight games due to lingering discomfort in his surgically repaired right elbow, but he's been cleared for full contact and is nearing a return. If cleared, Anunoby is likely to face major restrictions, but the forward's return would presumably mean fewer minutes for Miles McBride, who's started nine straight matchups and has averaged 44.7 minutes per game during that stretch.... Knicks' OG Anunoby: Remains out, but taking contact
Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau said prior to Thursday's 120-109 win over the Kings that Anunoby (elbow) has been cleared for contact and has resumed 5-on-5 practice, Peter Bottle of the New York Post reports. "OG's doing well. He's getting closer," Thibodeau said. "So we're optimistic, cautiously optimistic with that one." Anunoby is still expected to miss a 10th consecutive game Friday in Chicago after he experienced lingering discomfort in his surgically repaired elbow upon returning and playing in three straight games in mid-March, but his ability to resume taking contact is a monumental step forward in his recovery process. Because the Knicks won't hold a practice Saturday since Friday's game marks the second leg of a back-to-back set, Anunoby will presumably remain out for Sunday's game in Milwaukee, but a return to action at some point during the final week of the regular season for the Knicks' four-game slate could be realistic. Anunoby's eventual return will likely be most detrimental to Miles McBride, who has started each of the last nine games that Anunoby has missed and is averaging a whopping 44.7 minutes per contest over that stretch.... Knicks' OG Anunoby: Won't play Thursday
Anunoby (elbow) remains out for Thursday's game against the Kings. Anunoby hasn't played since March 16 and remains without a clear timetable to return. Josh Hart, Donte DiVincenzo and Miles McBride will continue to benefit from extra minutes while Anunoby is sidelined and with Julius Randle (shoulder) not close to a return either.... See More ... Knicks' OG Anunoby: Will remain sidelined Tuesday
Anunoby (elbow) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against Miami. Anunoby has been dealing with an elbow injury over the second half of the season and will be unavailable once again Tuesday. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return, but he hasn't been able to do much activity recently, and he's running out of time to return before the end of the regular season. Josh Hart, Donte DiVincenzo and Miles McBride should continue to see increased run.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' OG Anunoby: Not playing Sunday
Anunoby (elbow) is out for Sunday's game against the Thunder. Anunoby has been bothered by an elbow injury for quite some time, and the forward is set to miss his 16th game -- out of a possible 19 -- since the All-Star break. With no clear timetable for his return, the Knicks are expected to hold Anunoby off the court until he's 100 percent healthy. As a result, the Knicks should continue to turn to Josh Hart, Donte DiVincenzo and Miles McBride to handle heavy minutes in the final days of the regular season.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' OG Anunoby: Absence to continue Wednesday
Anunoby (elbow) will be inactive for Wednesday's game against Toronto, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports. The lingering discomfort in Anunoby's surgically repaired right elbow will sideline him for a fifth consecutive contest. Anunoby's operation removed a loose bone fragment from his shooting elbow. Begley notes that the 26-year-old was a partial participant in the team shootaround Tuesday, but Friday against San Antonio will represent his soonest opportunity to take the court.... See More ... Knicks' OG Anunoby: Out again Monday
Anunoby (elbow) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Pistons, Stefan Bondy of the New York Post reports. Anunoby will miss his fourth straight contest while recovering from a right elbow injury that he recently aggravated. The timeline for his return remains murky, though Bondy notes that the 27-year-old was able to take part in portions of the Knicks' morning shootaround Monday, which offers some sign of progress. With Anunoby sidelined along with fellow starting forward Julius Randle (shoulder), the Knicks should continue to turn to Josh Hart, Donte DiVincenzo and Miles McBride to handle heavy roles.... Knicks' OG Anunoby: Will remain sidelined Saturday
Anunoby (elbow) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Nets. Anunoby has been dealing with pain in his surgically repaired right elbow and will be unavailable for a third consecutive matchup. He recently underwent an MRI that came back clean, but it's unclear when he'll be able to return to action. His next chance to suit up will be Monday against Detroit.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' OG Anunoby: Officially out Thursday
Anunoby (elbow) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Nuggets. After being ruled out for Monday's game against the Warriors, a report surfaced that Anunoby would miss additional time. As expected, he'll be unavailable for Thursday's game, which should allow Bojan Bogdanovic and Precious Achiuwa to see more action. Anunoby's next chance to play will come Saturday against Brooklyn.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' OG Anunoby: Set for multi-game absence
Anunoby (elbow), who has been ruled out for Monday's contest at Golden State, is expected to miss additional time, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. While Anunoby's timeline for a return remains murky, Wojnarowski relays that the forward will likely miss more than just one game while dealing with a flareup of his right elbow injury. At this stage, Anunoby should be viewed as doubtful for the Knicks' next game Thursday in Denver, though head coach Tom Thibodeau said the team received positive news earlier Monday, when an MRI on Anunoby's elbow came back clean, per Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' OG Anunoby: Won't play Monday
Anunoby (elbow) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Warriors. Anunoby had played in three consecutive contests after an 18-game absence due to a shoulder injury, but he struggled mightily in his last appearance, totaling just two points (1-8 FG) in 33 minutes. This appears to be a rest day for the veteran forward, but his presence has been vital to the Knicks' success since being acquired. With Anunoby in the lineup, the Knicks are 15-2.... See More ... Knicks' OG Anunoby: Iffy for Monday
Anunoby (elbow) is questionable for Monday's game against the Warriors. Anunoby has played in three consecutive games since returning from a six-week absence, but he finds himself on the injury report once again. The team is likely just playing it cautiously here, easing him back into action. If he can't go, Bojan Bogdanovic and Precious Achiuwa are the top candidates to receive extra minutes.... See More ... Knicks' OG Anunoby: Iffy for Saturday
Anunoby is listed as questionable for Saturday's game versus the Kings due to right elbow injury management, Stefan Bondy of the New York Times reports. Anunoby has played in the Knicks' previous two games after returning from an 18-game absence due to elbow surgery. The Knicks seemingly want to ease him back into the swing of things, so it remains to be seen if he will get the green light Saturday. Should Anunoby ultimately sit out, Bojan Bogdanovic and Precious Achiuwa would presumably be the prime beneficiaries.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' OG Anunoby: Comes close to double-double
Anunoby chipped in 12 points (5-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds, two assists and two steals in 36 minutes during Thursday's 105-93 victory over Portland. Anunoby didn't have his best shooting performance, particularly from three-point range but made his presence felt in other categories, as Jalen Brunson's 45-point effort almost single-handedly carried the Knicks to victory. Anunoby has looked good in his two games since returning from elbow surgery, logging 29 and 36 minutes, respectively, but he continues to play through some minor pain, per Fred Katz of The Athletic.... Knicks' OG Anunoby: Sees solid workload in return
Anunoby (elbow) finished with 14 points (6-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and one steal across 29 minutes during Tuesday's 106-79 victory over Philadelphia. Out since Jan. 27 due to elbow surgery, Anunoby saw close to his usual workload in his return to the lineup and delivered solid numbers. Josh Hart took his spot in the starting lineup when Anunoby went down, but the duo lined up together at the two forward spots on the top unit Tuesday, an arrangement that's likely to remain in place for the time being given how productive Hart has been over the last six-plus weeks. Once Julius Randle (shoulder) is ready to return as well, however, head coach Tom Thibodeau could have a tough decision to make on who moves to the bench.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' OG Anunoby: Officially returning Tuesday
Anunoby (elbow) will be available for Tuesday's game against Philadelphia, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports. Anunoby underwent surgery to remove a loose bone fragment from his right elbow Feb. 8, and the 26-year-old will take the court approximately a month later. Expectations should be tempered as he ramps up to game conditioning, but his return will be a welcome addition to a Knicks team running out of steam en route to a 2-4 record over the last six games -- failing to exceed 100 points on four occasions. Anunoby will join a fully healthy rotation with the exceptions of Julius Randle (shoulder) and Mitchell Robinson (ankle), both of whom remain out indefinitely.... See More ... See Less -
Knicks' OG Anunoby: Nearing return
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Monday that Anunoby (elbow) is "close" to returning to game action. Anunoby advanced to contact work, including five-on-five scrimmages, last week, so this isn't a major update but does confirm he didn't suffer a setback following his ramp-up period. Despite trending in the right direction, Anunoby may remain out for Tuesday's home matchup against Portland, though the Knicks haven't released their injury report yet. Following that matchup, New York begins a four-game road trip which starts Thursday in Portland and ends March 21 in Denver. When Anunoby returns to game action, he'll presumably have a minutes restriction for at least a few games.... See More ... See Less
