Aaron Murray: Released by Chiefs

Murray has been released by the Chiefs, NFL.com reports.

Murray was reportedly put on the trade block prior to his release Friday and will now be free to sign with any interested team. After the Chiefs signed Nick Foles to replace Chase Daniel as Alex Smith's backup, and drafted Kevin Hogan, Murray's job and pegging on the depth chart was cast into question. Although Murray ultimately was sent packing, he embodies an interesting developmental option for teams in need at quarterback.
