CBSSports.com Players Fantasy Football League
A look at the first annual CBSSports.com Players Fantasy Football League!
It was February of 2007 when 49ers tight end Vernon Davis asked us, "Can you get me in a Fantasy Football league?"
Little did we know what we were about to discover. Through making phone calls to agents and players over the next couple of months, we learned that there are plenty of NFL'ers who either wanted to get into a Fantasy Football league or were already in a Fantasy Football league. In the case of a couple of players, they were in several leagues and had to enlist their wives/friends/family members in assisting with their teams!
Born from that is the first annual CBSSports.com Players Fantasy Football League , starring 10 players that all Fantasy Footballers have come to know and love (or in the case of our rookies, will come to know and love). Best of all, these players are playing for charity -- the winner of this league will receive a $20,000 donation to the worthwhile cause of their choice, with second place receiving $10,000, third place getting $5,000 and the rest receiving $1,000.
The league's draft was held in late July. The draft order is shown below, along with what charities each player is playing for. The league uses a standard-scoring system (all TDs are worth six, one point for every 10 yards rushing/receiving and 25 yards passing, etc.). All players automatically got themselves for their Fantasy team, but had to forfeit a draft pick in the corresponding round we recommend they go in based on our rankings.
We invite our Fantasy readers to check out the league and see who the players are starting -- and sitting -- each week of the NFL season, along with their standings, rosters and transactions. The players will also check in throughout the season and speak to CBSSports.com.
