Johnson (knee) was officially placed on injured reserve Thursday.
Johnson underwent successful knee surgery Tuesday, but wasn't placed on injured reserve until Thursday, which has now officially ended his 2016 campaign. The 30-year-old receiver has played in eight NFL seasons and will likely have to prove he's still got enough left in the tank following a tough knee injury. The Chargers signed James Jones to fill in for Johnson at wide receiver and help provide depth behind projected starters Keenan Allen and Travis Benjamin (undisclosed).
